EV charger installation cost depends on the charger, the route to your parking space and the electrical work your home needs. Separate those items in the quote so you can compare the complete installation.
In this guide
Start with three parts of the quote
First identify who supplies the charger. Next define the electrical installation: the cable route, circuit, protection, mounting and testing. Then list optional features such as load management or additional monitoring. A charger purchase price alone does not describe the installed project.
Our EV charger installation service can help you plan the equipment and electrical work together. Share the vehicle model and your usual parking position early.
Parking and the cable route
Measure the practical parking arrangement rather than only the straight-line distance from the house. Think about the vehicle charging-port position, access past the car, cable storage and how the route crosses walls, a driveway or garden. Avoid a layout that leaves a charging cable across a walking route.
- Indoor or outdoor parking and the proposed mounting position.
- Photos of the parking space and the closed switchboard.
- Approximate distance between them and visible access routes.
- Shared access, body corporate requirements or landlord permission.
- Plans for a second vehicle or a future garage.
Capacity and protection
We assess the existing supply, other electrical loads and the requirements of the selected charger. Board or circuit work is quoted according to the installation. Charger output also needs to suit the vehicle and the time available for charging.
EV charger load balancing may help manage available capacity, but it does not create additional supply capacity. If board work is needed, ask for it to be clearly identified alongside the switchboard upgrade scope.

Plan charging around your routine
Tell us how far you normally drive, when the car is parked and when you need it ready. Those details help frame the required charging window. Compare equipment using your vehicle’s charging capability and actual electricity tariff, rather than assuming the highest output is the best fit.

Questions about EV installation costs
Why can two EV charger installation quotes differ?
They may include different chargers, cable routes, board work or finishing. Compare the inclusions and exclusions before comparing the total.
Should I buy the charger before booking the electrician?
Discuss the model and installation first. We can check its suitability for the vehicle, location and electrical supply before you commit.
Send us your vehicle model, parking photos and proposed charger position. We can assess the installation and prepare a clear scope for your quote.
